Bushfire danger period ends early in Kempsey and Nambucca | The Macleay Argus

The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) has ended the statutory Bushfire Danger Period one month early in Lower North Coast due to continuing milder weather conditions. From midnight on Sunday, February 28 fire permits will no longer be required for the Kempsey and Nambucca Local Government Areas. However, Superintendent Lachlann Ison said all residents must continue to adhere to the law regarding the use of fire for hazard reduction activities. “Even though residents no longer require a fire permit, they must still notify their immediate neighbours and local fire authority 24 hours before burning, by either calling the 24 hour Fire Permit Line (02) 6626 6860 or online at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/notify,” Supt Ison said. “Residents looking to…
